Caitlin Stokes enjoys a diverse career of solo, chamber music, and orchestral performance while also maintaining an active interest in arts administration and advocacy.
She has performed and studied internationally as a chamber musician. In the summer of 2019, she traveled with the Simone Quartet to Siena, Italy for a six week intensive study with world renowned faculty. The culmination of these studies was a featured performance for the opening concert of the Festa della Musica. She has also performed in Brazil as part of the fellowship quartet at the Festival de Inverno Campos do Jordão. Cailtin has participated in masterclasses and worked with chamber music artists such as The Takács Quartet, Carpe Diem String Quartet, The Tokyo String Quartet, The Ying Quartet, The Ariel Quartet, and Vogler String Quartet.
Recent solo engagements include a performance of Cicero’s Dream performed with the Legacy High School Orchestras. Cicero’s Dream was composed by Daniel Kellogg as part of the 2018 Midori Residency in Boulder. Caitlin has also appeared as a soloist with the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra and Henderson Symphony.
Caitlin has attended numerous summer festivals including Bowdoin International Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Interlochen Arts Summer Program. In the summer of 2017, she was chosen as one of eight violin soloists at the Lake City String Academy where she performed in concerts, masterclasses, and outreach performances. She has also played for violinists Martin Beaver, Ed Dusinberre, Karoly Schranz, Giora Schmidt, James Buswell, Mikhail Kopelman, Ani Schnarch, and Brian Lewis.
Outside of her studies, Caitlin is an active orchestral musician. Currently she performs with the Boulder Philharmonic and Cheyenne Symphony and held a position with the Boulder Symphony. Since the summer of 2017, Caitlin has been a young artist in the Lake Tahoe Music Festival Orchestra. She has also played with the Lexington Philharmonic, Ohio Valley Symphony, and held a position with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra-Indiana. She has performed under the baton of conductors such as Marin Alsop, Giancarlo Guerrero, and Rossen Milanov.
Caitlin Stokes is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at CU Boulder under the instruction of Charles Wetherbee. She is also earning a Graduate Certificate of Arts Administration. Since 2016, she has held a position as a student assistant on the College of Music Advancement Team where she is dedicated to connecting donors and community members with the College of Music’s vision. After her studies are complete, she aspires to combine her artistic abilities with her experience in administration and development into a unique, multi-faceted career path.
Caitlin currently performs on a 1948 Carl Becker & Son violin.
